Phil Kamay is a passionate educator and leader deeply inspired by the holistic formation of young people. His leadership philosophy is grounded in the belief that flourishing school communities are built through strong relationships, clear and coherent structures, and a shared sense of mission. He is committed to developing educators who lead with presence, professionalism and high expectations. Phil currently serves as Deputy Principal – Staff at Marcellin College, where he oversees staff formation, professional growth, organisational practice, and the development of a positive professional culture. A strong advocate for teacher growth and development, particularly in the early years of the profession, Phil has held a range of middle and senior leadership positions across secondary education in Melbourne. His experience spans student wellbeing, instructional leadership, staff development, and campus leadership. He has designed and led strategic professional learning initiatives focused on building teacher capability, strengthening pedagogical practice, and supporting the implementation of evidence-informed approaches to classroom management and student engagement. Phil’s commitment to educator formation extends into higher education. He serves as a Casual Academic at Victoria University and Guest Lecturer at Australian Catholic University, where he works with pre-service and postgraduate educators in the areas of pedagogy, professional identity formation, and effective classroom practice. He is also a sought-after presenter across school sectors, facilitating professional learning in instructional coaching, early career teacher development, and the cultivation of high-expectation classroom cultures. Phil holds a Master of Business Administration (Executive), Master of Teaching, Bachelor of Music, Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary), and Graduate Certificate in the Psychology of Risk.
